Morning Assembly

 

The morning assembly is held twice in a week in the School and forms an integral part of the School curriculum. Routine activities in the morning assembly include prayer, hymns, thoughts, news, amazing facts, students talk (on famous personalities) and national anthem. Teachers also deliver a value based talk which is called as Guru Vaarta. Every child is given the opportunity and the platform to display their talent and present themselves as individuals. Guided by their mentors, the assembly includes short skit, presentations, slogan display, poetry recitation, speech, songs, individual experiences etc. The assembly is addressed by the Principal and the Vice Principal too. Occasionally renowned persons and educationists address the students to enrich them with their knowledge, experience and expertise.

Health Run

 

A research says “Running for just 15 minutes in school every day can positively impact children’s health” and at SVMS it is a regular practice. All students are taken outside immediately after the assembly to run or walk in the laps of the playground for 15 minutes which is followed by the Aerobics, Laughing excercise etc.

Meditation

 

Everyday the students start their classroom learning with meditation. The silence period starts with blowing of Bigul. There is OM Naad through centralised PA System and everyone in the campus maintains silence & meditates. This regular feature provides mental strength to everyone present in the campus.

Hawan

 

Every Tuesday there is Hawan in the School Campus where the students and teachers chant mantras to seek the blessings of God. This regular feature helps us to inculcate spiritual values among the students which are essential in today’s modern world. This is weekly activity is done for the students and staff who have their birthday in the previous week.

Yoga

 

All the students participate in yoga. It is an integral part of our schedule. The yoga instructor guides them to do the yoga. Each and every child of the school knows different Aasnas and Surya Namaskar.

School Clubs

 

The school strongly believes that all children are bestowed with numerous capabilities, aptitudes and talents. It is therefore, the responsibility of the school to foster these talents keeping in mind, that each child is an individual with specific needs and aptitude. To cater to each child innate qualities, the school has made provision for the following clubs :

  • Health and and Wellness Club: Sports / yoga / meditation / Drill/ Aerobics
  • Performing Arts: Cinema / Dance / Music / Acting / Work Education
  • Literary Club: English / Hindi / Punjabi/ Sanskrit
  • Heritage Club: Social/issues / survey / report / Project on various monuments
  • Maths and Science Club: Models / Projects / Surveys / Exhibition/ Environmental awareness / field trips
  • AEP (Adolescence Education Programme): Workshops / Group Discussion. Debates, seminar etc

House System

 

The School provides ample opportunities for the physical, mental and moral development of each child. The house system has been introduced in the school in order to develop the feeling of co-operation, healthy competitive spirit, leadership, initiative, interaction, love for others and self-discipline among the students. It provides opportunities of self-expression and chances to solve common problems and difficulties collectively.

Each house comprises of students drawn from each class in such a way that the school is divided in balanced group. Each group is known as a House. It has a name, logo and its own flag (color). For the proper functioning of the house-system each house is headed by a house master, (Member of the staff) and house captains, House prefects and students of the house.
